Textile Art – Custom Garments
Jewelry – Printing
Leah transforms common materials, like cloth, black walnuts, rusty metal and wire, into textile art that feels both familiar and novel. She uses printing, rust and dye to create patterns on fabric, then cuts, tears, pieces, or embroiders, often with a sculptural element. Water and creatures who inhabit it are common themes in her work.
Leah is particularly inspired by Jogakbo, a traditional Korean piecing technique, using stiff but semi-transparent ramie fabric, made from a plant similar to stinging nettle, resulting in a stained glass-like effect.
Leah has been sewing for over three decades and loves making costumes and garments uniquely suited to the wearer
